Book Update!
There has been some moving and shaking in the progress of publishing my book. I have obviously missed my publication date goal of November 5th, and am now hoping for a publication date of December 5th. I have submitted my most recent set of revisions (there were only 10, and they were just minor adjustments, like replacing a comma with a period), and have also submitted my request to HarperCollins Publishing for permission to use a passage from Hilarie Burton Morgan’s book, The Rural Diaries.
Because there is always a new obstacle, I received word from HarperCollins that they can only grant permission for use in the US, Canada, and the Philippines. Amazon Authors Publishing (the self-publishing company I am using) publishes worldwide. So, in addition to my permissions request to HarperCollins, I also have to submit a request to Foundry Media. That will take a bit longer, because there is no online form for Foundry Media- I have to submit my request via regular mail. But, forward progress is being made, even if it’s advancing at the pace I would if I attempted to run a marathon.
I’m also entering the copyright phase- Amazon Authors Publishing is going to submit my work for copyright, which will be a lot faster than if I attempted to do it myself (30 days vs. 90 days). That will protect all of the content of my book, along with the images used on the front and back covers, as well as the spine.
Just wanted to provide an update, in case there’s anyone out there who is impatiently waiting to read my story. We’re getting there!
